This past week was an eventful one in the England Birmingham Mission! We had zone conference this past Wednesday, which was amazing! I love listening to President Hughes speak. Basically, everything he says is so simple but so profound. One of his great sayings is that "The Gospel of Jesus Christ is simple. Satan is the author of complexity".
President Hughes also talked a little bit about being OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), which is something that I would say I can relate to. I think a lot of members of the church can be OCD at times about living the gospel and being obedient, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. All of us are going to sin and make mistakes every day, but we always have hope to become better. President Hughes said one his favorite sayings is "Nobody has sinned tomorrow." I think that quote can give us all a lot of hope! If we follow the prophet's council to repent everyday, we can experience being perfect everyday through the Atonement of Christ.
Sister Hughes talked about how we should strive to leave this Vineyard (England) better than we found it. I thought it was very motivating. I don't want to have any regrets when I leave England!
President and Sister Hughes are both incredible people! I wish I could share more of the amazing things they said, but I'm afraid it would take all day!
On Thursday Elder Cribbs attended the other zone conference since he is the choir director, so I went proselyting in Bristol with Elder Kimura and Elder King. It was a lot of fun! I love talking to people in Bristol! Bristol is basically a melting pot of different people, cultures, and races. You definitely have your eyes opened to the world in Bristol.
On Friday we had interviews with President Hughes. He is such a loving man and he's given me a lot of great advice! I gave my first priesthood blessing on Friday night to this lady who we are teaching who is going through some challenging times. I was pretty nervous to do it since it was my first time, but it was a great experience!
I've learned a few new English terms. To pronounce the letter "z", you say "zed" instead of "zee". And to pronounce the letter "h", you say "haitch" instead of "aitch".
Anyways, I thought that was kind of funny and interesting. Have a great week everyone! Love you all!
Elder Wray
